Willie Nelson

Even though I left, Texas still holds a special place in my heart. And Willie. He is Texas.

 

I am not aware of ever becoming aware of Willie Nelson. It's as though he has always existed. He is the background music of all the good times that can be had in that state. As a Texan, you just know that Willie is out there somewhere, having a good time, all of the time.

 

"Whiskey River" is my favorite example of that tone, that feeling.
