Dolly Parton is entirely self-possessed and a complete giant of talent. She wrote "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You" on the same day. She does what she wants, in the way she wants to do it, graciously and without apology.

She helped fund the Covid vaccine. She has sent American children a free book every month from birth to age five through the Imagination Library. What a role model.
